The Commission on Elections (Comelec) expects to proclaim the winners of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections before midnight on Tuesday. This announcement follows the first elections held on September 14.

Delayed Results Due to Ballot Issues

Voting was extended in Maluso, Basilan, after compromised ballots were found in 36 out of 68 precincts. Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia indicated that the situation would not significantly delay the overall election results.

More or less, we can proclaim all winning regional political parties and sectoral representatives in Bangsamoro parliamentary elections before midnight.

As of the latest updates, the Comelec has received 5,136 election returns, amounting to 98.54% of total submissions, leaving only 76 precincts pending.

Current data from the Parish Pastoral for Responsible Voting indicates the Bangsamoro Federalist Party leads the race with 660,464 votes (35.2%), followed by the United Bangsamoro Justice Party with 609,078 votes (32.4%).

This historic election will fill an 80-seat parliament, which includes seats allocated for women, youth, traditional leaders, and ulama, in line with the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act.
