UNIQLO Philippines has launched the Youth RISE Project, a significant initiative designed to provide essential skills training to over 3,100 young individuals aged 18 to 30 in Manila and Valenzuela. In partnership with PLAN International Pilipinas, the program focuses on empowering marginalized youth, particularly those who are out of school.

A Focus on Vulnerable Communities

Our bias is really to support the most marginalized, those who have no opportunities, and those who are not in school so that they’re able to have the opportunity to go back and have that opportunity to learn skills and build their agency.

  • Training in IT and food and beverage sectors.
  • Emphasis on life skills and entrepreneurship.
  • Integration of green skills for environmental awareness.

The Youth RISE Project aims to equip participants with both technical and life skills necessary for long-term success in the workforce. These skills include effective communication, workplace dynamics navigation, and entrepreneurship. The initiative also incorporates green skills, promoting environmental consciousness among trainees.

According to UNIQLO Philippines Chief Operating Officer Geraldine Sia, the initiative reflects the company's commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people. "For us, meaningful impact is about helping create access, opportunity, and confidence that can support stronger futures for young people and their communities," Sia stated.

This initiative arrives at a critical time in the Philippines, where a 2024 report from the International Labour Organization revealed that one in five young individuals are classified as NEET (not in education, employment, or training).

UNIQLO's global PEACE FOR ALL initiative also connects with this local project, as the retail giant seeks to leverage its brand influence for social good. The initiative features a line of graphic t-shirts whose proceeds support various humanitarian causes worldwide.
