PLDT and Smart have partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) to facilitate digital skills training for micro-entrepreneurs in Manila. This initiative, part of the #KonektedForLivelihoods program, aims to enhance the online capabilities of small business owners.
Empowering Small Businesses Through Digital Skills
For many small entrepreneurs, going online can feel overwhelming at first. Through initiatives like these, we hope to help communities build the skills and confidence to use digital platforms more safely and effectively for their livelihood.

The Digital Entrepreneurship Masterclass, held in Sta. Mesa, provided practical guidance for local business owners. Participants learned how to effectively use social media for marketing, ensuring they can reach a broader audience.
Ferdilyn Rivas Sta. Maria, who runs a barbecue business, noted a significant shift in her approach to online engagement after attending the masterclass. She plans to create more consistent content and involve her daughter in managing her business's digital presence.
Jesus Bermido Jr., DSWD-NCR area coordinator, highlighted the need for such partnerships to enhance the marketing skills of entrepreneurs. He stated that these training sessions bridge the gap between product creation and effective online marketing.
Participants like Pura Alunan Breva, who sells ready-to-wear clothing, expressed appreciation for the insights on product presentation and cybersecurity. Breva's experiences with online scams have made the discussions on internet safety particularly relevant.
PLDT and Smart's involvement in this initiative reflects a broader commitment to support Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by fostering a digitally-savvy entrepreneurial environment.
