Tropical Depression Maymay has exited Northern Luzon and is now over the Philippine Sea as of August 6, 2026. The system is projected to weaken into a remnant low by Thursday evening.
Current Conditions and Warnings
At 4 PM, Maymay was approximately 150 kilometers east-northeast of Echague, Isabela, accelerating east-southeast at 35 kilometers per hour. Its sustained winds have diminished to 45 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.
Maymay is forecasted to weaken further, potentially merging with Typhoon Dolphin, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
PAGASA
While the rain from Maymay is easing, the southwest monsoon, or *habagat*, will continue to bring significant rainfall across Luzon in the coming days.
Flood watches remain in effect, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely affecting several provinces including Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Benguet, as well as parts of Central Luzon.
Coastal areas are also under scrutiny, with PAGASA warning of rough seas in certain regions, making travel risky for small vessels.
Future Cyclone Predictions
Maymay marks the 13th tropical cyclone in the Philippines for 2026, closely following Tropical Depression Luis. PAGASA anticipates two to four additional tropical cyclones could develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in August.
