The southwest monsoon remains a significant weather threat for Luzon and the Visayas, bringing moderate to heavy rains that could lead to flooding and landslides.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the rain is expected to intensify over the next couple of days.
Impacted Areas and Rainfall Forecast
While Mindanao will not be affected by the monsoon, localized thunderstorms may occur.
The current rain patterns follow a recent period of severe weather caused by Tropical Cyclone Inday, a super typhoon that recently exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
At least 17 fatalities have been reported in Mindanao due to the impacts of the enhanced southwest monsoon.

In addition to the ongoing monsoon effects, PAGASA is closely monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) positioned 2,005 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. Though it currently has a low likelihood of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, it could eventually enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
