Metro Manila and 23 provinces are currently experiencing heavy rain due to the southwest monsoon, which is being intensified by Typhoon Dolphin. As of August 8, 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports significant precipitation in the region.
Rainfall Forecast and Areas Affected
Typhoon Dolphin remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located 810 kilometers northeast of Northern Luzon, moving southwest at 15 kilometers per hour. It boasts maximum winds of 155 km/h and gusts reaching up to 190 km/h.
Despite not entering PAR, Dolphin's effects are felt widely. PAGASA has issued a three-day rainfall outlook, indicating the potential for heavy rainfall to continue through the weekend.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant as conditions may lead to flooding and landslides. PAGASA is also monitoring a new low-pressure area located 2,610 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, which has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression.
The LPA appears less likely to enter PAR, but we advise the public to stay updated on weather developments.
