The low pressure area (LPA) previously identified as Tropical Cyclone Caloy is likely to dissipate by the weekend, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Currently, the LPA is situated approximately 495 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. Pagasa confirms that it will not directly affect any region in the Philippines.
Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez stated, “We do not expect this to directly affect any part of the country, and we also do not see it intensifying again into a tropical cyclone.”
The LPA is expected to remain in the Philippine Sea before it completely dissipates between Friday and Saturday.
Fair Weather Forecast
In the meantime, Pagasa anticipates generally fair weather conditions across the country, though isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms may still occur.
Dominguez added, “We will continue to experience generally fair weather, but hot and humid conditions are also expected, especially from noon until afternoon.”
Heat Index Alert
Pagasa has issued a warning regarding heat indices reaching dangerous levels (42 to 51°C) in several areas.
In Metro Manila, heat indices are predicted to range from 40 to 42°C, while the highest heat index is expected to reach 45°C in locations like Echague, Isabela; Camiling, Tarlac; and Butuan City.
Prolonged exposure to extreme heat poses health risks, so we should avoid going outdoors from noon until afternoon.
