Five areas in the Calabarzon region are forecasted to face dangerous heat index levels on May 12 and 13, 2026.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Cavite City, Tanauan City, Alabat, and Los Baños will likely reach a heat index of 42°C on May 12. On the following day, the same areas, along with Infanta, are expected to experience the same extreme conditions.

Pagasa categorizes heat index values between 42°C and 51°C as 'danger,' warning that prolonged exposure can lead to serious health issues such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

The heat index measures the discomfort level due to the combined effects of air temperature and humidity.

In light of these conditions, the Department of Health (DOH) has advised the public to stay hydrated, limit sun exposure, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

As the dry season continues, elevated heat index levels are expected to remain.

The DOH recommends seeking immediate medical attention if heat stroke is suspected. Peak heat conditions typically occur from midday to late afternoon.
