On May 3, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported a peak heat index of 44ºC in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and Aparri, Cagayan.
The heat index measures how hot it feels when humidity is factored in with the air temperature.
Pagasa categorizes heat indices between 42ºC and 51ºC as 'danger' levels, indicating heightened risks for heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
In total, 15 areas across the Philippines recorded dangerous heat indices on the same day.
