As Typhoon Inday exits the Philippine area of responsibility, the southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is poised to unleash heavy rains across the country. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a weather advisory on Saturday, July 11, warning of expected downpours.
Affected Areas and Rainfall Projections
The monsoon rain is forecasted to predominantly impact Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, with heavy rainfall expected to continue into Sunday, July 12.
Pagasa also noted that occasional rains will affect other regions such as Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas, with varying rainfall intensities.
In addition, the agency warned of possible scattered thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and SOCCSKSARGEN.
The trough of Typhoon Bavi, which was previously named Inday, could lead to overcast skies and additional rain over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
Pagasa's forecasts come in the wake of Typhoon Inday's impact, which has already caused significant disruptions and prompted precautionary measures across various regions.
