Pax Silica's scale is daunting, projecting a 4,000-acre industrial hub in Tarlac with an estimated power requirement of around three gigawatts. This mirrors Meta's Hyperion project in Louisiana, which spans 3,650 acres and demands five gigawatts of power. The volume of resources required for these AI-related infrastructures is substantial and requires careful consideration.

Investigative reports from the U.S. highlight issues such as rising electricity bills for residents unaware of the agreements between tech companies and utilities. Many local communities have felt the negative impacts of AI infrastructure, including environmental degradation and lack of meaningful dialogue before projects commence.

The recent decision by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to exclude data centers from the Pax Silica project is significant.
