The Akari Chargers achieved a significant milestone in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) by defeating the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 3-1, on October 20, 2026. This victory not only marks Akari's first win of the season but also demonstrates their resilience against a determined comeback from PLDT.
Akari's Strategic Defense Shines Through
In a standout performance, Akari's defense effectively contained PLDT's star player, Michelle Davison, limiting her impact on the game. This strategic move was crucial in maintaining Akari's lead throughout the match.
Our focus was to disrupt their rhythm and contain Davison's scoring. It worked well for us today.
Akari Coach
Although PLDT staged a late rally, Akari managed to fend off their advances, securing the win with key plays in the final moments.
- Akari Chargers win their first match of the season
- Michelle Davison's scoring was limited by Akari's defense
