The Philippine National Police (PNP) is intensifying its security presence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) as it prepares for the region's first parliamentary elections on September 14, 2026.
As of September 10, a total of 9,821 police officers have been deployed across Barmm, with 4,361 officers sourced from the local Police Regional Office and additional personnel from various specialized units.

The majority of the forces will be stationed at 4,313 polling centers, with additional focus on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices and checkpoints.
In light of previous violent incidents, including the recent ambush of Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, the PNP is prioritizing areas known for political tension.
General Nartatez has emphasized that the PNP is closely monitoring the situation to prevent election-related violence and ensure a safe environment for voters.
Local stakeholders and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are collaborating with the police to enhance security measures throughout the region.
The PNP's proactive approach comes amid ongoing concerns regarding political rivalries and clan feuds, which have historically contributed to election-related violence in the region.
Nartatez reassured the public, stating, "Our personnel are on alert and are focused on preventing election-related violence, particularly in areas with known political, clan, and security concerns."
