An alleged former driver of ex-House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco has brought shocking claims to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), stating he delivered suitcases filled with cash to Vice President Sara Duterte. The deliveries reportedly occurred in Davao from 2021 to 2022 at Velasco’s direction.
Second Accusation of Cash Deliveries to the Vice President
I confirmed that it was for Ma’am Sara Duterte when our head driver told me that we would deliver the little gift to Sara Duterte.
Alias Chris, Alleged Former Driver
This allegation follows a similar claim made last September by police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who stated he had delivered over P2 billion in cash to various members of the Duterte family, including P1 billion to former President Rodrigo Duterte.
- Alleged cash deliveries took place twice in Davao.
- The former driver submitted an affidavit to the NBI detailing his claims.
The alleged driver, referred to as 'Alias Chris,' testified that he was instructed to transport around 15 suitcases on two separate occasions, although he claimed to have no knowledge of the cash amounts or exact delivery locations. He stated he was part of a convoy led by a head driver.
In a media interview, he expressed his motivation for coming forward: "Just for the truth. And also for my safety."
The NBI has confirmed receipt of his affidavit and will investigate the allegations further. NBI Director Melvin Matibag indicated that they will follow standard procedures in assessing the claims made by Alias Chris.
In response to the allegations, both Vice President Duterte and Velasco have denied any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Duterte has filed libel and cyberlibel complaints against Matibag and several others, claiming the accusations are false and damaging to his reputation.
