The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte enters its eleventh day today, August 3, 2026, with significant developments anticipated.

At 10 a.m., the Senate impeachment court will hear from a new witness, Roderick Wamil, a former state auditor from the Commission on Audit’s Intelligence and Confidential Funds Office. Wamil's testimony will focus on allegations of misusing P612.5 million in confidential funds.

What to Expect in Today's Proceedings

The prosecution is continuing its case-in-chief regarding Article 1 of the Articles of Impeachment, which addresses the alleged misuse of funds by Duterte.

Wamil's testimony follows the issuance of subpoenas to other key individuals, including COA state auditor Celine May Del Campo and House of Representatives director Marivic Pareja. Del Campo is scheduled to testify tomorrow, while Pareja will take the stand on August 5.

The withdrawals in tranches of such huge amounts of cash by the OVP and DepEd’s respective special disbursing officers were 'unusual.'

Former LandBank branch managers

This trial has captured national attention, as it involves serious allegations regarding the handling of public funds, specifically P500 million from the Office of the Vice President and P112.5 million from the Department of Education.

Last week, two former LandBank branch managers testified that the cash withdrawals related to these funds were highly irregular, raising further questions about the financial practices of Duterte's office.
