The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially dismissed reports alleging that ballots were tampered with ahead of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections, set for September 14.
This clarification comes in response to claims made by the Facebook page Mapag Matyag, which suggested that municipal workers had shaded ballots just days before the elections.
Assurance of Security for Ballots
Comelec emphasized that ballots are securely stored in local municipal offices and are vacuum-sealed, with access restricted until the election day.
It is the duty of the Election Office and/or the Treasurer of each municipality or city to inspect these items after the public, political parties, candidates, and citizens’ arms have been notified.

The poll body also addressed potential concerns regarding power outages on election day, assuring voters that the Automated Counting Machines' batteries could last over 14 hours.
As the BARMM transitions to its first parliamentary elections, maintaining public trust in the electoral process is essential. The Comelec is urging the public to rely on verified information and official announcements.
Any issues encountered with ballots should be reported immediately to the Command Center in Cotabato City, ensuring transparency and accountability in the upcoming elections.
