The Tuburan District Hospital in Cebu is undergoing significant upgrades, including the construction of a new morgue and a hazardous waste storage facility to enhance operational safety.

Major Infrastructure Improvements Underway

With a budget of ₱15,792,134.71, the hospital is also adding several other facilities, including an ambulance parking area, a linen and laundry building, and a dedicated nursing unit.

Other enhancements involve roof repairs for the main building, construction of a covered walkway, and improvements to the oxygen tank area, alongside repainting and fence repairs.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro inspected the projects to ensure they meet the healthcare needs of Tuburan and surrounding areas.

Construction began in June 2026 and is expected to be completed by January 2027, with Juga Builders and Construction Supply managing the project.

Addressing Historical Issues

These improvements follow a previous ₱7.8-million initiative to tackle chronic flooding issues that have plagued the hospital for years. The earlier project included installing a drainage system and enhancing access roads.

As part of its Site Development Plan, the hospital aims to create a safer environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

Increased Healthcare Workforce

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the hospital has expanded its workforce significantly during Governor Baricuatro's term. The number of healthcare personnel has risen from 49 to 116, including an increase in doctors from three to nine and nurses from nine to 33.

This expansion is intended to better distribute responsibilities and enhance patient care.

Community Impact

Governor Baricuatro continues to prioritize healthcare improvements, aligning with the province's broader strategy to enhance medical services and infrastructure.
