The Investment Coordination Committee–Cabinet Committee (ICC-CC) has officially approved enhancements aimed at modernizing the Philippines' technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system. This initiative is poised to significantly improve the employability of graduates in a rapidly changing job market.

Government Commitment to Education

The government’s investment in technical and vocational education is an investment on the Filipino people.

The Supporting Innovation in the Philippine Technical and Vocational Education and Training System (SIPTVETS) Project, led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), seeks to enhance training quality through improved industry partnerships, upgraded facilities, and increased institutional capacity.

Key adjustments approved by the ICC-CC include relocating six host institutions and establishing a new Regional TVET Innovation Center (RTIC) in the Negros Island Region, expanding the total number of centers to 18.

This modernization effort is supported by a $100 million loan from the Asian Development Bank, approved in 2022, aimed at enabling the TVET ecosystem to better meet global labor demands.

In addition to the TVET project, the ICC-CC has also recommended adjustments to other infrastructure projects, which are pending final approval from the Economy and Development Council, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The committee emphasized that these recommended project adjustments are part of the government's ongoing commitment to ensure priority investments yield tangible benefits for Filipinos, including enhanced skills training and improved public services.
