The Philippine government has proposed a staggering P145.37 billion for counterpart funding in 2027, marking a remarkable 319.6% increase from the P34.65 billion allocated in 2026. This funding is crucial for advancing several major infrastructure projects.

Significant Investments in Infrastructure

The budget aims to support a total of P416.59 billion for foreign-assisted projects, more than tripling the previous year's allocation.

A significant portion, P271.22 billion, is expected to come from foreign loans, primarily for railway, bridge, and transport initiatives.

This unprecedented funding increase reflects our government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and attracting foreign investments.

Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno
  • P169.67 billion for Asian Development Bank (ADB) projects.
  • P158.70 billion for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) projects.

Among the key projects, the North-South Commuter Railway System is set to receive P79.73 billion, while the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network will get P35.21 billion.

The Metro Manila Subway Project Phase 1 will see a significant allocation of P67.44 billion, highlighting the government's focus on urban mobility.

The Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge is also a priority, with proposed funding rising sharply to P13.32 billion from P866.36 million.

This funding strategy not only addresses immediate infrastructure needs but also aligns with the Philippines' long-term economic growth goals.
