President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inaugurated the NLEX-C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A, a crucial new roadway that connects Quezon City to Valenzuela City on October 29, 2026.

The two-kilometer stretch will significantly cut travel time between Quirino Highway and the NLEX Mindanao Toll Plaza from 40 minutes to just five minutes.

Marcos announced that the new segment will remain toll-free until the end of the year, allowing drivers to enjoy the benefits of the upgrade without immediate costs.

What we’re doing in other areas, on other roads, is that all of those that have recently opened are still being allowed to operate toll-free for now. We’ve been given some leeway, so passage here is free until the end of the year.

  • 24/7 operation accommodating all vehicle classes
  • Expected to serve approximately 11,000 vehicles daily

This new segment not only provides a fast route to the NLEX but also eases traffic on EDSA, a major thoroughfare often plagued by congestion.

Segment 8.2 is part of a larger 11.3-kilometer project designed to enhance connectivity across Metro Manila, establishing a vital link for travel between northern and southern Luzon.

The NLEX-C5 Northlink is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, with the government collaborating with NLEX Corporation, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation.

During the inauguration, Marcos also inspected the progress of the Metro Manila Subway Project Phase 1, underscoring the administration's commitment to improving the country's infrastructure.
