The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced plans to complete the Alaminos–San Pablo City Bypass Road Project in Laguna by the end of 2026. This initiative aims to provide a quicker route for motorists while alleviating congestion along the heavily trafficked Maharlika Highway.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon stated that the road has been incomplete for nearly a decade, primarily due to unresolved right-of-way issues. Local government leaders have urged the national administration to expedite the project.
It’s been ten years already, and the only remaining problem is the right-of-way.

Dizon's comments came during an inspection of the project site with San Pablo City Mayor Arcadio Gapangada Jr. and Alaminos Mayor Eric Lopez. He expressed confidence that the administration is committed to overcoming the final hurdles.
- Expected travel time reduction of 20 to 40 minutes for commuters.
- A total length of 12.83 kilometers, originally funded with P1.36 billion in 2016.
- An additional P473 million is required to complete the project.
Currently, only about 300 meters of the project remains affected by right-of-way concerns. Local officials have pledged to assist in resolving these issues, which are vital for the road's completion.
Once finished, the bypass road is anticipated to enhance transportation efficiency for travelers heading south toward the Bicol Region and beyond, potentially benefiting logistics and tourism sectors.
Industry stakeholders have long identified this bypass as a key improvement to regional connectivity, reducing delays along one of the Philippines' busiest highways. Its completion is expected to significantly ease urban traffic in Laguna.
