Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered his military not to target Moscow's Red Square during the upcoming WWII victory day parade on May 9. This decision comes after the United States announced a three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
In a decree published on the presidential website, Zelenskyy specified that the area of Red Square would be excluded from the Ukrainian military's operational plans during the parade, which is set to begin at 10:00 am Kyiv time.
This move reflects a significant step towards de-escalation amid ongoing tensions between the two nations.
Context of the Ceasefire
The ceasefire, announced by the US, aims to create a temporary pause in hostilities, allowing for a more peaceful atmosphere during the commemorative events in Russia.
