Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday that combat continues against Russian forces, despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States.
The ceasefire, intended to last three days starting May 9, has been marred by mutual accusations of violations from both nations.
"Today there was no silence at the front; fighting persisted. We have documented all incidents," Zelenskyy remarked in his daily address.
He further claimed that Russia shows no intent to conclude the war, indicating preparations for new offensives.
During his address, Zelenskyy highlighted a report from his lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov, about recent meetings in the United States focused on political and technological developments.
"The conflict in Iran is currently capturing significant American attention. However, there remains a commitment from the U.S. public to end the war in Europe as well," he noted.
Despite the announcement of the ceasefire by U.S. President Donald Trump, diplomatic efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict have largely stalled, overshadowed by the situation in Iran.
