In response to the devastation wrought by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the Philippine government has started distributing emergency financial aid to Filipino workers in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). This storm, regarded as one of the most potent in recent memory, has left communities in dire conditions.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) began the distribution on May 26 and will continue until May 30, or until funds are exhausted. Permanent residents and green card holders are not eligible for assistance.
Distribution commenced at the Beach Garden Hotel in Garapan, as unforeseen flight delays impacted the original plan. Additional distribution teams are anticipated to travel to Tinian for further aid.
Many Filipino workers shared harrowing accounts of loss. Kris Romero, a 40-year-old worker from Cavite, reported extensive damage to her apartment, including ruined appliances.
Another worker, Arnel Carillo from Laguna, described how his house was flooded. Helen Olbes, a long-time resident, recounted how strong winds compromised her roof, leading to interior damage.
Wilma Dellota, who has lived in Saipan for 37 years, noted that flooding in her barracks destroyed most of her possessions. Marife Perez, a daycare worker, expressed gratitude for the assistance, stating it would help her recover from the storm's impact.
The Philippine government has assured continued support as long as resources are available. The aid comes at a critical time for many workers, who are struggling to rebuild their lives.
