Central Indonesia experienced a magnitude 6.7 earthquake on Tuesday, with the US Geological Survey identifying the epicenter located east-southeast of Palu in Central Sulawesi province.
The earthquake struck at 10:27 a.m. local time (0227 GMT) and was felt strongly across Palu and the nearby Sigi region. Fortunately, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency confirmed there was no tsunami threat.
Suddenly, it was like there was a jolt, and then the whole house seemed to shake. The entire roof was making noise, like it was about to collapse. I hurried to evacuate with all the kids.

Witnesses reported feeling significant tremors. Nurhaidar, a local resident, described the moment of the quake while she was in her kitchen, emphasizing the urgency of evacuating her children.
Indonesia lies on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," making it particularly susceptible to earthquakes. The region has a history of devastating seismic events, including a 2018 magnitude-7.5 earthquake and tsunami in Palu that resulted in over 2,200 fatalities.
