The Philippines has reported a rising death toll of 19 and 15 injuries linked to the impacts of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay, exacerbated by the southwest monsoon. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) revealed these figures in their latest report.

The combined effects of the storms have affected 646,676 families or 2,270,862 individuals across multiple regions.

Benguet province has experienced the highest fatalities, accounting for 12 of the deaths, primarily due to landslides. The city of Baguio reported nine fatalities, while La Trinidad recorded two and Atok one.
In Rizal, four people lost their lives due to various weather-related incidents, including landslides and falling trees. Batangas also reported three deaths, with drowning and electrocution among the causes.
As the situation develops, authorities are focusing on search and rescue operations. Four individuals remain missing, including three in Benguet, feared to have been caught in landslides.
The NDRRMC has set up 919 evacuation centers, providing refuge for 26,174 families—approximately 94,997 people. The damage from these storms is extensive.
Initial assessments indicate that 639 houses were partially damaged, while 45 homes are completely destroyed. Infrastructure losses have been estimated at P1.456 billion, with agricultural damages reaching P135.33 million.
In response to the crisis, government agencies and humanitarian organizations have collectively provided P73.52 million in assistance to impacted communities.
