Typhoon Inday, previously classified as a super typhoon, has been downgraded to a typhoon as it moves across the Philippine Sea. As of July 9, 2026, it is located approximately 925 kilometers east of Northern Luzon and is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour.
Forecast and Impact
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Inday is expected to be closest to Northern Luzon by Friday evening or Saturday morning. Residents should prepare for conditions that could lead to flooding and landslides.
Inday is the Philippines' ninth tropical cyclone for 2026, and the second for July.

Inday's influence will also enhance the southwest monsoon, leading to scattered rain and thunderstorms across Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.
Warnings and Precautions
As of 5 AM Thursday, Signal No. 1 has been raised in several regions, including Batanes and parts of Cagayan. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant as winds may reach gale force.
Sea conditions have deteriorated, posing risks for maritime travel. PAGASA warns of very rough seas, especially along the northeastern seaboards.
Inday is projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday and could make landfall in China by Sunday, potentially weakening further.
