Taal Volcano in Batangas has registered a significant drop in sulfur dioxide emissions, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). In its latest report, the volcano emitted 308 metric tons of SO₂ over a 24-hour period, down from 590 metric tons recorded earlier.

Despite the decrease in gas output, seismic activity remains a concern. Phivolcs reported nine volcanic earthquakes during the latest monitoring period, following eleven quakes the previous day and twenty on May 4.

Regulatory Measures and Safety Protocols

While no volcanic smog or hot fluid upwelling was observed in Taal's main crater lake, authorities continue to enforce strict restrictions. Taal Volcano is currently under Alert Level 1, indicating low-level unrest, but entry to the volcano and nearby areas remains prohibited.

Phivolcs continues to advise caution and adherence to safety protocols in the vicinity of Taal Volcano.
