Super Typhoon Bavi is on track to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between the evening of July 7 and the morning of July 8, 2026. Located 2,215 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, Bavi is advancing west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
Potential Impact on the Philippines
Currently boasting maximum sustained winds of 205 km/h and gusts reaching 250 km/h, Bavi is expected to influence weather patterns across the Philippines, even if it doesn't make landfall. PAGASA has noted that the chances of the storm directly impacting land are slim, with Taiwan and Japan's Ryukyu Islands as likely targets.
Due to the uncertainty in terms of the radius of strong winds, the possibility of raising wind signals over the eastern portions of Southern Luzon and Visayas is not ruled out.

PAGASA anticipates issuing tropical cyclone wind signals for the northern and eastern areas of Northern Luzon starting July 7 or 8. The agency is also preparing to issue a gale warning, predicting rough sea conditions in the northern and eastern seaboards.
As Bavi approaches, the southwest monsoon will intensify, resulting in gusty conditions nationwide and increased rainfall, particularly in northern and western provinces.
This super typhoon marks the ninth tropical cyclone for the Philippines in 2026 and the second for July. PAGASA has projected that two to four additional storms may still form or enter PAR this month.
