The Philippine National Police (PNP) has declared a heightened alert level across its regional offices and operational units as Typhoon Inday (Bavi) approaches northern Luzon. With the storm expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds, authorities are gearing up for possible emergency situations.
Preparations are in Full Swing
Colonel Allen Rae Co, chief of the PNP Public Information Office, announced that the police force has activated its disaster preparedness protocols. This includes prepositioning rescue equipment and ensuring operational readiness of Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) teams.
In anticipation of the possible effects of Typhoon Bavi, the Philippine National Police has placed all Police Regional Offices, National Support Units, and other concerned units on heightened operational readiness to ensure the safety and security of the public.

The PNP is also collaborating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and other emergency agencies. This includes assisting with preemptive evacuations and securing evacuation centers.
Co emphasized that police commanders are to monitor local weather conditions continuously and respond promptly to emergency calls. The PNP aims to ensure public safety and maintain order throughout the typhoon's impact.
As of Thursday morning, Typhoon Inday has slightly weakened but remains a significant threat with warnings of rough seas and severe weather expected in various regions of northern Luzon and areas affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon.
