Pangasinan is experiencing unusually high heat index levels this May, with readings often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Local weather data indicates that the heat index reached alarming levels of 44°C on most days this month.

Only on May 1 and May 6 did the index dip slightly, recording 43°C and 42°C, respectively.

Health experts categorize heat indices between 42°C and 51°C as dangerous, significantly increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

In response to the ongoing heat wave, the Pangasinan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has issued advisories. Residents are encouraged to remain hydrated and seek shelter in shaded or air-conditioned areas whenever possible.

Heat-related illnesses can be severe, and we urge everyone to take these warnings seriously.
