Guinobatan Mayor Ann Gemma Ongjoco has announced that ashfall from Mayon Volcano has affected approximately 91,225 people, impacting daily activities across 41 barangays in Albay.

The ash has severely disrupted visibility and movement, leading to the deployment of fire trucks from neighboring areas to clear major roads.

Despite the extensive ash coverage, no evacuation orders have been issued as of now.

Water supply in several areas has been temporarily interrupted as resources are redirected to clear the roads, forcing residents to rely on hydrants.

Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV from the Office of Civil Defense confirmed that fuel assistance has been provided to expedite cleanup efforts.

Agricultural and Livestock Impact

Agricultural losses are becoming apparent, with farmers reporting the burial of nearly harvested rice fields.

All our money and effort were wasted. We hope the rain will wash the ash away.

In Camalig, Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo noted livestock deaths due to the ashfall, with figures still being confirmed.

Doreen Abelinde, from the Mayon Observatory, explained that the ashfall is a result of multiple volcanic activities, including strombolian eruptions and lava dome collapse.

The ash plume has reached heights of up to 3,000 meters, and Mayon Volcano remains at Alert Level 3.
