The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that a low pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is likely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
As of July 21, the LPA was positioned approximately 1,505 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. PAGASA forecasts that this weather system could enter the PAR by July 22.
If it intensifies and enters PAR as a tropical cyclone, it will be designated the local name Kiyapo, reflecting the water cabbage from which Manila's Quiapo district derives its name.

This potential tropical cyclone would mark the 11th tropical cyclone for the Philippines in 2026 and the fourth for the month of July.
The incoming weather disturbance could reach tropical storm intensity. The highest possible tropical cyclone wind signal would be Signal No. 2.

According to PAGASA, the LPA's trough could cause scattered rain and thunderstorms across Eastern Visayas on the evening of July 21, with further rain expected from the southwest monsoon.
- Moderate to heavy rain (50-100 millimeters) expected in Maguindanao del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani from July 22 to July 23.
- Additional rainfall forecasted in Negros Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur from July 23 to July 24.
PAGASA advises residents in affected areas to stay alert for updates and take precautions against potential floods and landslides.
