The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepositioned more than 300,000 food items to aid communities in the Bicol region as Mayon Volcano continues its eruptive activity.

As of May 3, the DSWD reported that 301,311 family food packs were ready for distribution to those affected by the heavy ashfall from the volcano.

Additionally, the agency has prepared 27,322 ready-to-eat food boxes and 15,156 non-food items for residents in need.

The DSWD's Bicol field office has also allocated over P39 million for emergency cash transfers and cash-for-work programs to support local recovery efforts.

Officials reassured the public that assistance will continue until all affected residents have fully recovered.

The volcanic activity has severely affected visibility and mobility in Albay, with thick ash covering streets and buildings.

No Filipino will be left behind in receiving support until they are able to recover.
