As of September 1, 178 areas in the Philippines are under a state of calamity due to devastating storms and monsoon rains, impacting approximately 9.1 million individuals across ten regions, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Impact and Response Across Regions
The NDRRMC reported that 2.6 million families have been affected in regions including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon. The widespread calamity has led local governments to declare emergencies, enabling faster mobilization of resources.
The disasters have left 34 people dead, 19 injured, and three missing.

Benguet province has borne the brunt of the fatalities, with 15 deaths reported, primarily due to landslides. Other affected areas include La Union, Rizal, and Cavite, where various incidents led to tragic outcomes.
The NDRRMC noted that flooding remains widespread, with 678 areas submerged. Evacuation efforts have resulted in 1,255 centers being set up, sheltering over 135,900 individuals.
The total damages are estimated at P6.27 billion for infrastructure and P2.32 billion for agricultural losses. Additionally, 3,700 houses have been reported damaged, highlighting the extensive impact of the recent calamities.
As authorities continue to assess the damage, the government has allocated P1.79 billion in assistance to support affected communities.
