Mandaue City officials have announced the closure of one lane on the Subangdaku Bridge beginning May 12. This closure is part of a rehabilitation project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-7) aimed at elevating the bridge to enhance flood prevention.
The bridge serves as a boundary between Mandaue and Cebu City, and the remaining lane will remain open for two-way traffic during the rehabilitation period.
Hyll Retuya, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), stated that the lane closure will affect traffic flow, but vehicles traveling from Cebu City to Mandaue will not be impacted.
Traffic Advisory and Alternative Routes
Vehicles from Mandaue heading to Cebu City must take alternative routes. Public utility jeepneys operating in Mandaue will still be allowed to use the bridge without diversion.
Motorists are encouraged to consider alternative routes such as M. Logarta Avenue, S.O. Albaño Street, and Gatewalk/Ayala Road to avoid congestion.
Trucks coming from M.C. Briones Street should also utilize M. Logarta Avenue to navigate around the closure.
Authorities have warned of potential traffic congestion in the area and urge motorists to plan their trips accordingly.

The rehabilitation is expected to last up to six months, with completion anticipated by November.
