As of August 13, 2026, the southwest monsoon, locally known as *habagat*, is significantly affecting Luzon and Western Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The provinces of Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro are forecasted to receive moderate to heavy rain, with accumulations between 50 and 100 millimeters expected until August 14.

PAGASA warns of scattered rain and thunderstorms across various regions, including Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and parts of the Bicol region.

Ating abiso sa ating mga kababayan…patuloy na maging alerto sa mga banta ho ng pagbaha, especially sa mga low-lying areas at sa mga vulnerable areas.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reports that the ongoing weather systems have resulted in 21 deaths, 14 injuries, and two missing persons. Damage estimates have reached P2.65 billion for infrastructure and P230 million for agriculture.

In addition to the southwest monsoon's impact, PAGASA is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) located 1,765 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. The LPA could develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours but is currently moving eastward, away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Historically, August is a month when the Philippines often experiences multiple tropical cyclones, and this year is no different. PAGASA anticipates up to four tropical cyclones may form or enter the area this month.
