Twelve-year-old Riley Maddaleign Alindogan has become a standout competitor at the 2026 Palarong Pambansa, bringing home five gold medals in swimming and putting Bicol on the map.

Representing St. Agnes Academy in Legazpi City, Alindogan excelled in the elementary girls’ division. She clinched victories in the 400m freestyle, the 100m breaststroke, and the 4x50m medley relay on May 26.
The following day, she continued her winning streak by taking gold in both the 200m freestyle and the 200m individual medley.

Despite coming close to a sixth gold in the 50m breaststroke, where she set a new record with a time of 36.09 seconds, she finished second.

Alindogan's journey to success has not been without its hurdles. Previous attempts at the Palarong Pambansa in 2024 and 2025 did not yield any gold medals.
This year, however, her dedication and rigorous training under her coach paid off, as they had anticipated strong performances from her.
Alindogan's story is a reminder of the untapped potential within the youth of the Philippines, especially as sports continue to play a significant role in national pride and talent development.
