Blizzard Entertainment has launched Season 3 of Overwatch, unveiling Shion, a Japanese flanker damage hero. Released on June 17, 2026, this update adds Shion as the game's 52nd character and fifth playable Japanese hero.

Shion breaks away from the typical hitscan designs, focusing on aggressive flank positioning and flashy mechanics.

Shion’s unique abilities include a special mechanic called Joyride, allowing her to mount a motorcycle and launch it as an explosive projectile. Her Ultimate, Satsuriku Spree, enables her to rush forward three times in a barrage of gunfire.
Explore Neon Junction: A New Map
The Season 3 update also features a new Tokyo-based Hybrid map called Neon Junction. Designed for high-mobility heroes, the map includes tight vertical alleyways and an objective-based gameplay format.
Players will need to capture objectives while escorting ANDROMEDA III, a new payload robot, through Hashimoto territory.
Seasonal Events and Customization Options
The Season 3 Battle Pass offers a variety of cyberpunk, biker, and festival-themed cosmetics. Players can unlock unique skins, including the Ascendant Phoenix Illari Hero skin and the Tokyo Rebel Hanzo Weapon skin.
Additionally, a three-week Anima Strike event is running until July 6, featuring progression challenges and lore paths for players to explore.
Collaborations and Upcoming Features
Starting June 30, the popular J-Pop duo YOASOBI will collaborate with Overwatch to release exclusive skins for characters Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo.
