The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) is poised for an exciting 26th season with the addition of the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) men’s basketball team.
This announcement expands the UC Webmasters program, offering more opportunities for student-athletes.
Rumors about the new team were confirmed by UC’s athletic director Jessica Honoridez, who emphasized the initiative to provide more scholarships and educational opportunities.
The announcement follows a Facebook post by former Cebu City Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros, who revealed that tryouts for the UCLM squad are scheduled for May 7 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Building on Success
UCLM has established itself as a formidable contender in the Cesafi high school division, having topped the standings in Season 25 before a controversial forfeiture affected its playoff run.
Honoridez noted that the team's official launch will occur after the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) national finals in Bacolod City.
Details regarding the coaching staff and management for the new team are currently in the works.
It’s about their future—more scholarships, more chances to finish their studies.

UCLM’s entry into the league aligns with the recent inclusion of San Roque College de Cebu, which will also participate in the high school division of Cesafi.
