The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off a thrilling upset against the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs, winning 104-102 in Game 1 of the NBA playoffs. Anthony Edwards, returning from injury, played a pivotal role in the victory.

Despite the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama setting a postseason record with 12 blocks, the Timberwolves showcased resilience and team depth.

Edwards, who missed the last two games of the previous round due to a knee injury, contributed 18 points off the bench, demonstrating his determination to help his team.

Supporting him was Julius Randle, who scored 21 points, while four other players also reached double figures, securing a vital win in the best-of-seven series.

Spurs Reflection and Wembanyama's Commitment

The Spurs were left to ponder a heartbreaking finish as Julian Champagnie’s buzzer-beater attempt fell short. Wembanyama's defensive prowess included 15 rebounds and 11 points, but it wasn't enough.

“Obviously, we have to be better,” Wembanyama stated. “If I had been better, it would have been different.”

Dylan Harper led San Antonio's scoring with 18 points, and Wembanyama promised improvements ahead of Game 2.

Knicks Dominate Sixers in Game 1

In the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks overwhelmed the Philadelphia 76ers with a 137-98 victory. Jalen Brunson led the charge with an impressive 35-point performance.

The Knicks raced to a commanding lead, scoring 74 points in the first half, establishing control early in the game.

Brunson's first-quarter surge included 14 points, and he capped the half with a deep three-pointer, solidifying New York's advantage.

With contributions from OG Anunoby and others, the Knicks maintained their dominance throughout, even extending their lead to 40 points in the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia's stars struggled, with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George combining for only 12-of-31 shooting.

The Knicks look to build on their momentum as they prepare for Game 2 on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
