National Master Keith Adriane Ilar from Bukidnon emerged victorious in the Rising Chess Unlimited Development Program (RCUDP) Fide-rated open rapid chess tournament held on May 10, 2026.

The event took place at the Tangub City Global Center in Misamis Occidental, where Ilar dominated the 9-round Swiss system competition, finishing with an impressive score of 8.5 points.

Cagayan de Oro's Nazario Ubanan secured second place with 7.5 points, while Bukidnon's Luke Alboren clinched third. Aljie Cantonjos from Gingoog and Geronimo Romarate of Dipolog both ended with 7.0 points, rounding out the top five.

A Competitive Gathering

The tournament attracted 111 participants from various regions, including Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon. Competitors represented cities such as Ozamiz, Tangub, and Cagayan de Oro.

Organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, the tournament's chief arbiter was Rey Urbiztondo, assisted by Fide Arbiter Christopher Semilla and National Arbiter Jenephir Pepito.

The event served as a preparatory competition for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, set to begin on May 24.

It was a thrilling tournament, showcasing the talent of young chess players from the region.
