Nash Lim, a rising star in Philippine cycling, secured the title of the best Filipino rider in the 2026 Tour of Luzon, finishing fourth overall in a field dominated by international competitors.

The 14-stage race, which commenced in Calatagan, Batangas, and concluded in Baguio City on May 13, saw Lim post a cumulative time of 41 hours, 20 minutes, and 23 seconds.

A Promising Future for Philippine Cycling

I’m really happy. I made sure to secure fourth in the GC to finish as the best Filipino.

At just 23 years old, Lim was only 2 minutes and 28 seconds shy of securing a podium finish against Syrian rider Ibrahim Alrefai, who placed third.

  • Nikita Shulchenko (Russia) – 1st place
  • Antoine Huby (France) – 2nd place
  • Ibrahim Alrefai (Syria) – 3rd place

This performance marks a significant improvement for Lim, who finished 15th in the previous year's Tour. His consistent results included several top-five finishes across various stages.

Lim's journey from a teenager playing video games to a competitive cyclist reflects a larger trend in the Philippines, where cycling gained popularity during the pandemic.

He rides for Factor Racing, a UCI team based in Slovenia, and has competed internationally, further highlighting his potential on the world stage.

Lim aims to build on this success and dreams of becoming a champion in future editions of the Tour of Luzon, which has seen foreign riders dominate in recent years.
