Letran and San Beda University are set to clash at Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Friday in a critical matchup for a playoff spot in Pool A of the 2026 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Unity Cup.
High Stakes for Both Teams
The reigning NCAA champion Letran Knights are looking to rebound from a recent defeat against the National University Lady Bulldogs, having lost that match 21-25, 14-25, 19-25. Currently, Letran holds a 1-1 record, tied with the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
San Beda, still seeking its first win of the tournament, faces an uphill battle after a heartbreaking loss against the Lady Altas, where they squandered a 2-1 match lead, ultimately falling 30-28, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 14-16.
Honestly, that's No. 1 that I always remind the team: not to underestimate the skills of NCAA teams. The level of competition in the NCAA is getting higher.
Norman Miguel, Head Coach of NU
- Letran holds a 1-1 record in Pool A.
- San Beda is currently winless at 0-2.
National University, already assured of a spot in the next round, will attempt to complete a group stage sweep against the desperate Perpetual at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, in Pool B, College of Saint Benilde meets Jose Rizal University at 3 p.m. for the last playoff ticket.
In this tournament, only the top two teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs, making every match critical as the stakes escalate.
