Ian Paul Abne is poised for a pivotal moment in his boxing career as he prepares to face China's DianXing Zhu on May 9 in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) world title eliminator.
Training at the ARQ Boxing Stable in Cebu, Abne appears fit and ready, thanks to an intensive three-month training regimen.
Head trainer Fernando Ocon emphasized that the team has meticulously prepared Abne by incorporating various training methods, including jogging, strength conditioning, and sparring.
Intensive Preparations
Ocon stated, "We had a long preparation that lasted over three months. We did everything—jogging, strength and conditioning, sparring, bag work, and mitts."
The coach believes that Abne's physical readiness will allow him to withstand the pressure Zhu is known for.
We have a big chance of winning. He may be strong, but we haven’t seen a clear fight style from him. Abne can absorb his strength and control the fight.

Zhu's aggressive fighting style poses a significant challenge, but Abne's team is confident in their strategy.
Strength coach Roger Justine Potot noted that Abne has shown remarkable improvements in endurance and strength throughout training.
Conditioning-wise, he’s in one of the best shapes we’ve seen. His endurance, strength, and recovery have all improved significantly.

The training program has been tailored to help Abne handle the intense pace expected in the ring.
As fight day approaches, Abne's confidence continues to grow, bolstered by the extensive preparations and support from his team.
