Filipino tennis sensation Alexandra "Alex" Eala has captured the limelight with a stunning grass-court season, culminating in a historic performance at Wimbledon.

Eala, who is currently ranked world No. 32, started her impressive run by winning the 125 Birmingham title in early June.

Milestones and Achievements

After a second-round exit at The Queen’s Club, she reached the semifinals of the Berlin Open, marking her best finish in a 500-level tournament.

Eala became the first Filipino singles player to be seeded at No. 29 in Wimbledon and to advance to the fourth round in both the amateur and Open Era.

“Yeah, I’m really emotional,” said the teary-eyed Eala in the post-match interview before a jam-packed crowd in the stands of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Center Court.

Her breakthrough moment came on July 4 when she defeated defending champion and world No. 3 Iga Swiatek, igniting celebrations across the Philippines.

Despite falling to world No. 17 Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round, Eala left the court to a standing ovation, a testament to her inspiring journey.

Her Wimbledon performance not only earned her a career-high payout of £309,000 (approximately P25.39 million) but also set her up for a potential new ranking of No. 28.

Eala is set to take a brief three-week break before returning to hard courts for the Mubadala DC Open from July 27 to August 2 in Washington, D.C.
