In The Hague, Danny van Dijk believes that this year's transformation of Marktweg into 'Orange Street' will inspire the Netherlands to finally clinch their first World Cup title.

For 26 years, residents have painted their street orange to show support during major football tournaments, and this year is no exception.

The scene is captivating: homes adorned with orange tarpaulins, banners draping the street, and large photographs of Dutch players lining the lamp-posts.

Despite being three-time finalists, the Netherlands has yet to secure a World Cup victory. However, Van Dijk feels optimistic, stating, "I have a good feeling – we're going to win."

We get to meet other people; all you see are smiles. We bump into people from the neighborhood but also people who've come from all over the Netherlands.

In a touching tribute, 77 kilometers of flags now line the street in memory of Van Dijk's mother, who passed away in March. She played a significant role in fostering the community spirit that brings people together.

As the Dutch team gears up to face Japan in their World Cup opener in Arlington, Texas, excitement is palpable.

"It's going to be a truly brilliant day," Van Dijk adds, reflecting the hope shared by many.

Dini Netten, 58, traveled from northern Netherlands to experience the vibrant decorations, calling it "absolutely magnificent" and a highlight every two years.

Coby Pronk, 65, expressed her admiration for the initiative, stating, "It's truly magnificent, the most beautiful street in the country."

Anouk Vermolen, 28, who visited with her partner, acknowledged that while the decorations are inspiring, the outcome will depend on the team’s performance.

It will depend mainly on the team, and not so much on the street decorations.
