Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala emerged victorious against Alycia Parks of the United States, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Toronto. This match took place early Thursday morning, Manila time, just three days after Eala clinched her first Women's Tennis Association Tour title.

Eala’s match began strongly, showcasing her skill and determination. Though Parks rallied in the second set, Eala capitalized on her opponent’s mistakes in the decisive set, much to the delight of the Filipino crowd.
Expressing her gratitude, Eala was moved by the support from the large Filipino community in the Toronto area, which boasts over 250,000 residents of Filipino descent. She noted the excitement in the crowd, where fans waved Philippine flags and chanted her name.
Looking ahead, Eala will face American Caty McNally in the round of 32 on Saturday. McNally recently upset No. 7 seed Linda Nosková, adding pressure to Eala's upcoming match.
Eala is also set for doubles action, teaming up with tennis legend Venus Williams. The duo will compete against Liudmila Samsonova and Miyu Kato, after previously reaching the quarterfinals together at the Bad Homburg Open.
