The Cebu Greats are on the hunt for their third straight victory in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as they prepare to face Sarangani 10ACT on May 13 at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Cebu is currently riding high after securing back-to-back wins against Imus Yangkee and 1Bataan Risers, scoring 91 points in each game. The team's resurgence has been bolstered by the return of Dondon Hontiveros, who has quickly made an impact.

Hontiveros Shines in Comeback

Hontiveros, who transitioned from an assistant coach role to player, scored 18 points in his second game back, all from three-point range, hitting six out of ten attempts. He also contributed three assists in just 18 minutes.

Currently, the Greats hold an impressive 4-2 record, placing them eighth in the league standings, just behind Batangas Tanduay Athletics and ahead of the Pasay Voyagers.

Sarangani's Struggles

On the other hand, Sarangani 10ACT is struggling this season, sitting at 24th place with a 1-5 record and experiencing a four-game losing streak. Their most recent game ended in a 58-75 defeat against Pasay.

Larce Sunga led Sarangani in that loss, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds. He will be supported by teammates Alex Desoyo, Carl Bryan Lacap, and Yvan Ludovice, who each added nine points in their last outing.

Cebu's Balanced Roster

Cebu's lineup looks deeper and more balanced, with Mark Meneses providing consistent scoring in the paint, including a recent 31-point, 10-rebound performance against Bataan.

Veteran players Brian Heruela, Paul Desiderio, Simon Camacho, and Jun Manzo are also expected to play crucial roles as the Greats aim to extend their winning streak. The game is set to tip off at 6 p.m.
