Cebu Greats and Pasay Voyagers achieved significant victories in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season, held at the One Arena in Cainta, Rizal.
Cebu defeated Imus Yangkee with a score of 91-77, while Pasay overcame Sarangani 10ACT, winning 75-58. This keeps all three teams—Cebu, Pasay, and Quezon City—at a 4-2 record in the tournament.
Dondon Hontiveros led Cebu with an impressive performance, scoring 18 points solely from three-point shots. His efforts earned him the best player award.
Hontiveros, a former national player, also made history by playing alongside his son, Ice, marking only the second father-son duo to compete in the MPBL.
Team Highlights
In addition to Hontiveros, Cebu received support from Mark Meneses, who contributed 16 points and showcased his athleticism with several spectacular dunks.
Other notable contributions came from Wowie Escosio with 12 points, Paul Desiderio who added 11 points, and Simon Camacho who recorded 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Cebu turned the game around after trailing at halftime, launching a decisive 19-1 run to take control.
Pasay's Cyril Gonzales led his team with 15 points. Brian Hilario and Steve Nash Enriquez also made significant contributions with 14 and 10 points respectively.
Quezon City Dominates Iloilo
In another matchup, the Quezon City Black Bulls triumphed over the Iloilo United Royals with a commanding score of 102-70.
Ryan Costelo shined for Quezon City, scoring 24 points, 15 of which came in the fourth quarter, securing his recognition as the best player of the game.
Levi Hernandez was Iloilo's standout player, scoring 36 points in a losing effort.
